Week 15

Family,

Well to start off i want to say i love you. Sorry that this letter is a day late it is just that France takes a holiday the day after Easter and me and my comp did not know so we were not able to get food or do anything yesterday on Pday so we are doing it today. Also i am at a youth center and i have a time limit so when our normal email place opens back up i will write everyone else an email also so Mom, Kira, and Nicole i got you email and will write when i can, hopefully soon. Well this was a cool week we have a new amis named Mariah. We found her and the area book and years ago she had a baptismal date but we dont know what happen and we are teaching her again. On Sat we went to a Baptism in Orleans, it was an amis of the zone leaders and she wanted the missionaries to sing at her baptism. So we sang at it and it was just so cool to see a baptism. I am excited because one of Blois amis is going to get baptisied the same day as Mary Joe so we are doing it together. It is so exciting to see the work moving forward. So a funny story this week is that our Mary Joe our amis came to church and we were so excited and i was talking to her and she was telling me how her son is in the air force. Well i misunderstood her french and i guess she asked if me and my comp wanted to go flying and i said yes. So yesterday we got a call and she is all excited to go flying with us and well we are trying to figure it out my comp was like what did you tell her. So we are going to talk to the mission president and we are hoping if anything we can just go watch because it is an air show. Well another really cool thing this week is that taught a lesson to the english student that i told about last week and it went really well. He is going to read the Book of Mormon and we are going to teach him the fist lesson tomarrow. Oh i almost forgot to tell you i am staying in Tours with Elder Gardner for this next transfer so that is really cool i am glad. Our zone leaders are changing because one is going home and the other is becoming AP. I hope our next zone leaders area as great as these last ones. Elder Wood is staying the district leader so i will keep seeing him too. Well i had a really good week over all and it was so good to hear from all of you. Tell Samantha and everyone hi for me. Also tell her that i wrote her letter i just have not been able to send it becaus each time i got to get stamps the post office is closed. haha or it is a random holiday like yesterday. Well my Easter was kind of crazy the whole day me and Elder Gardner were running around everywhere and we had two appoinments and did some pass backs. so we left to church at 8 that morning and did not got back til 8 at night. Also there was a nice big storm while we were out. So it was a very different Easter while it was happening i was really tired, wet and hungery, but looking at it now it was cool because that day ended with us having that new amis Mariah and we had a lot of fun looking for these random addresses for passbacks. Also we spent that night listening to a talk on Easter and then looking up scriptures and talking. I was funny because i was suprised how much i learned and grew because i was not worring about the holiday, but more why it is so important. So it was good. Tell Brandon Congrats from me that is so awesome he will love it. Is that the same mission as Kylee Fronk? Well i love everyone and want to say I hope everything keeps going great. Je t'aime

Week 14

Hey Family,

So i did not here from anyone this week hahah so i hope that you got my last email the computer was being kind of strange so if you did not get it let me know. Well it is crazy it is the last week in my first transfer. Wow that went by so fast. I find out on sat what the transfers are but because i am a BLUE i think that i will stay in Tours for at least one more transfer, but i will let you know. Well this week was really cool i got to do an exchange with Elder Woods it was really fun. We did a lot of porting and then meet with a really cool family. It was also cool because while we were going door to door some random guy saw us and was like what there is missionaries in Blois (that is Elder Wood's area) , I was taking the lessons before i moved here and did not know you were here. So he asked us for our info hahah it was cool that does not happen every day. Well also in was just nice taking about campout and our Families. I relized that i am about to miss my first campout next month, so sad but it is ok hahah. Well also this week we made a baptismal calender for our Amis Mary Joe. She is so good she already read the Book of Mormon twice and D and C. She is going to get baptised on the 21 of next month so that is really cool. Also we got a new amis this week I can not even really say his name hahah so it will be hard to type, but we hope things will continue well with him. Most of this week has been less active work because the branch in Tours was once a huge branch that was ready to be a ward then things happened and offence was taken and now it is a lot smaller branch. So we have been tracking down less actives and so far it has gone well. A lot have moved but one Man said he is going to start comming back to church and will bring his daughter. So we will teach him this week also. Well how is everyone doing? Is anything new going on back home? Oh funny story, well on sun we met with the Branch mission leader and after i was really down because i was struggling with the french and while i was kind of throwing my self a pitty party in my head i was asked to bless the sacrament so then i was really scared hahah. Well in the end i did it even though my accent was well not perfect hahah. It just makes me think why was i ever nervous way back when to say the sacrament pray in english. The lord showed me that even though it was hard and a freaked a little i did it and all was good. Well today we went to another castle. Chateau de Chambord. I will try to send maybe a few pics but last time the computer went crazy so we will see if not look it up it is really cool. Well i don't know much else to say just that i love you and i miss you. Keep being amazing people. Pray, Read your scriptures and go to church, it really is that easy. a side note we have been teaching these three principles to the less actives and it is funny that as long as you do these three things "for real" then everything is so much happier and better in life. So do it! Well i love you all so much. Have a great Easter and remember what it stands for. Oh i forgot, This week it was really cool because an english class student that was not really interested in the church just wanted to learn english called and said he want to talk about the book of mormon. so we met with him and he told us that he was sitting at his computer and had a hard day and was looking for council or enlightenment how ever you want to say it and he looked up and saw the Book of Mormon above his computer where he had put it forever ago. So we seach on youtube the book of mormon and found the Mormon messages. He watched a few and one really touched him and it had a scripture in it so he grabed the Book of Mormon and started to read that chapter. He wanted to talk to us because he said he felt like the book was talking directly to him. It was so cool and now he wants to meet before english class each week to learn more. So amazing how the lord leds people to him when they need him most. Well just wanted to share that story oh and his name is Maxime. Well love you.

Love your favorite missionary

Week 13

Pictures are of his visit to the castle mentioned below. One of Dee with 2nd Cousin Elder Tanner Wood (also district leader) and the red head is his companion Elder Gardeners.

Family,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD AND PAUL!!!!!!!!!! I was thinking about it this week i hope that you both had awesome birthdays. And ii know Paul did he got a new surfboard and gets to go surfing, but what about you Dad. This week was Elder Gardeners Birthday also and i made him homemade brownies and a cake. hahah so it was also and memory of you too. You would be impressed with my cooking skills haha i keep suprizing myself. I mean i follow a cook book but we only have a 1/3 cup and a table spoon so i guess almost everything and i have to convert all the stuff from different measurements used and here and the ones i know. And so far most not all but most of it has turned out really good. Pro brownies i must say hahah. Well to answer your question the pain au chocolat is not as sweet as it looks but it is really good and some other pastries i have had are really sweet. Also i know that in time the language will come. It was funny because at church the branch presidence kids always come and talk to me and i always just nod my head and listen because they talk so fast and little kids are really hard to understand. Well i was remembering some of the stuff they told me and later i asked Elder Gardner what they said and i learned that one was telling me how his brother was stupid and how he was so mad at him and i was just smiling and nodding hahaha it is just so funny that i these little kids are so much better at French then me hahaha oh well just keep practicing. It sounds like you all had a really good week. For sure have bryce write and tell me all about his trip, i am really excited to hear. Well this week i went on exchanges with both the zone leaders and the APs so that is really strange but it was really good. Both times i was with Elders who were in there last transfer so they gave me some really good advice. Also this week we did some english class contacting it is where you contact some one in english and if they are like oh i don't speak english we tell them about are english class and if they already speak english we share a message. I really liked this because well i could actually fully understand everything and it was english ahahaha. We did interviews this week and they did it in Tours that is why we had the exchanges with the APs because they came up a day early. It was a really good training about comp study and also Baptism Calenders and helping people more fully after they have a baptismal Date. Also i got all my mail becasue when it is sent to the mission home you get it every other month during interviews so it was nice to get all the mail. Well i want to tell you about to day i will attach all the pics i think i will just send all the pics i took if i can find an easier way to attach them. I mean if Elder Gardner helps haha. Well the pics will be fist of some home that we pass while walking to an amis house and then the rest are of the castle we went to today. The missionaries from Blois Elder Wood (my cousin) and Elder Coleman have a car so for p day they picked us up and we went to Chateau de Chenonceau. We were going to go to Chateau d'Ussé which is one that disney used for one a modle for one of the disney movies but i was out voted haha we will go there hopfully on another p day. Well the one we went to It is really cool it is a castle that is built out over the water and it had huge gardens and a forest all around it. Also it had a maze that was really fun. We had a lot of fun there and after we helped a member move a some things out of there apartment into storage and some new stuff back into the apartment. haha they live on the top floor so we that was fun hahah. Then i had my first Kabob it was really good. Well some other things about this week is that we have been listening to conference a lot in the morning at night and lunch time, well all the times we are actually in the apartment and it is so good. It is amazing how you can just keep getting so much out of it. I encourage everyone to study the conference not just listen to it once all though that is really good but if you take time to study it more you will be blessed and learn so much. This week has been really cool becasue i changed so much well my out look on the gospel that is. In studies and doing missionary work has helped me see so much more how this gospel can bless us in everyway you can think of. It is such an amazing blessing that brings so much joy. Also from conference (well out side of the fact that we need to all get married hahah jk) i loved how much it talked about serving others. Also the differnece between doing and being. When we become someone who truly loves and sees others as chirst would we will serve and become better people withourt even knowing it. If we become the people God wants us to be then actions will follow and you will do what is right because that is who you are. But at the same time in order to get there you do need to do what is right first. I hope that it all made sense sometimes i feel like what i write in not clear. Well i want you all to know that i am happy. I love life and not because i am in france and having all these fun esperiences but becuase i know i am doing what the lord wants me to do and i know this gospel is true. Thanks for all the prays. Je t'aime. Hope to hear from you all soon Elder Davis

ps Thanks everyone who wrote me that was really nice also thanks for the family news letter Grandpa I really loved reading about all the other missionaries in the family and hearing how everyone is doing.

Week 12

Family,

That is sad to hear about Roy, Elder Wood called and told me while we were on our way to the internet café. It is good to know that he is in a better place though and to see how many people have been blessed by his life.

It was nice to hear that the week went so good for everyone. I hope that the River House was fun. Well for me it has been a crazy week so i am just going to start at the start and go through. oh and a side not it is Pain au chocolat i have been saying it wrong and ordered it wrong and just found out hahah de au close enough hahah the language is comming but sad to say from conference it is like the sun comming nice and slowing not like turning on a light hahah no really i have been working really hard on the language and it is getting alot better.

Well so on monday after i talked to you i went and say the Cathedral in Tours and then got a huge pastrie that tour is known for so that was really fun i will try to send some pics after this. Ok then the next morning during comp study Elder Gardner's shoulder came out of it socket and it was bad. So i helped him on the ground so he could lay down and then he said on you are going to put it back in because that is the only way to make the pain go away. (side not he had a accident about a year ago that this happened and it came out while playing bball in the MTC and because he had it in a weird position laying down it came out because he had not done full strengthening after the MTC any ways) so he said i will walk you through it and on my 4th try i got it back in. Haha i was frecking out but it took for times because in his pain he forgot one of the steps in puting it back in the first three trys and who could blame him i mean really. But i was going crazy so any ways that day was mostly resting and then helping him ice and get a sling and stuff. Well the nest day we did exchanges and i ended up going with Elder Coleman and Elder Wood came with my comp. So i went down to Blois it is east of Tours and all the appointments fell through so i knocked doors and contacted fot 5 hours hahah it was scary because Elder Coleman was in his third transfer so his french was still not really strong and i had to talk alot, but in the end it was good for me to practice my french. Oh and it started raining after the first hour so we were all wet. So if you start to feel extra blessed thats why hahah just kidding. Welll the next day we had a district meeting in Blois so after that i went back with my comp to Tours. We could only get a latter train so did not have much time and just planed for that night. Then Friday was more normal we went and taught a less active names Dominique and he said he would watch conference. oh and found out that the castle we always walk by opens next week so that is cool i am excited to go. Then we helped a member that lived across the street from the Church move he is moving to Paris to be with his wife becasue he was going to school here and whe was going to school there and they only saw each other on the weekends so he was really excited to be done. Well he went to England on his mission so spoke pritty good english and i found out that his Dad is going to be the new mission President in July so that is cool he said he would put in a good word for me. haha. Ok so ok Sat we had a crazy day haha we had to catch a train at eight that morning so and we studied on the hour trian ride to the bottom of our area to meet with a memeber an older lady from England who had asked for our help well Elder Gardeners help because it was with computers and also he husband is less active. Well she picks us up at the train station and her car is covered in fur and she it like sorry the other car broke and this is the car i take the dogs around in. So we start to talk about her dogs (it was a thirty min car ride to her farm) and then we ask so how many dogs do you have..... she said 47 well 48 one is at the vet. hahahah what. so we get to her farm and go through an old broken down building that the horses stay in to get to her house and then we heard barking comming from every direction and there were so many dogs luckyly most were locked up. then she opened her door to the house and like five more dogs come running out and two are the biggest dogs ever but they were nice and so i just was malled by all these dogs any ways while Elder Gardner helped with the computer i just sat and listen to her tell all about her life for 3 hours. Then we taught a lesson and she told us her conversion story and that was really cool so haha fun morning. well when we got back and had to change and wash everything because it all smelled like dog and i mean everything it was so funny. Then we rushed over to the church to clean it because it was our week so we did that and then we found out they would not be playing it in english so we went to the cyber café and watched the morning session hahah at night because of the time change. It was really fun and we bought conference snacks so that was good. Well on sunday the english room for conference was not working so we watched the Priesthood session in French that was really hard but i got alot our of it still. Then we all ate at the church and watched the Sat afternoon session that was being broad casted and this time they found out that they just needed to press one button and the english now worked so i got to watch that one in english. After that session an amis we had invited showed up because he mixed up times and so we taught him a lesson and he could not stay til six to watch the Sun morning one. Well then everyone went home to watch it online and we watched the sunday morning session all alone in the church bld it was funny having a whole bld to ourself. We did not get to see the last session becasue we have to go to bed a Ten thirty and the last one starts at ten here, so then we walked home becuase on sunday buses stop at eight and then went to be. i am excited because Elder Gardner just downloaded all of conference so i can hear Priesthood session in english and then listen to sun afternoon too. woot woot. So all is good here. It really was a good week. I am so pumped after conference to just work even harder. Oh and are investigator Mary Joe who we could not get a hold of for like a month called and was like sorry my phone did not work because i was in a clinic and they were running tests and keeping her there because she broken her feet. Well she called and told us what happened and was like don't even think for a second you lost me it was funny. also we told her about conference and for like ten min on the phone she went on how awesome it is that we get to hear the prophete and apostle and how everyone should be able to hear them. Also Pamala who is a new amis was not able to see us this week but we are planning to meet soon so we are hoping that goes well. Ok well i love you all and hope that you enjoyed confence. Hope to hear back and all about your lifes.

Elder Davis

Week 11

Family,

Well this last week was so great i loved it and it went so fast, but at the same time i feel like i have been here for months and it has been just over a week and a half being in Tours. haha funny how that works. Well we had some trouble meeting the lady who is going to get baptised because she broke her feet and was in the hospital but we are seeing her tonight so we will see how everything is going. We met with Pamala the lady i told you about who had started the Book of Mormon. We taught the Restoration and it went really well and we are going back for another lesson so it is going great and she said she is going to come to church in two weeks. Oh btw i am so excited for Conference we are working on being able to watch it in English if not we are going to get them off line later but i hope we work it out other wise that is going to be a hard time trying to understand conference in French haha. Well i taught my first lesson to a less active family (Fraize family) well the daughter just got baptised and her and her mom started going to church again but not the Dad so we went and teach them, they are the family that feds us it is really good and again we end the meal by geting out all they cheeses and having cheese and bread ( pain et fromage) but i really like it well most of the cheese hahah. Well my lesson to them was really cool we were teaching about to receive personal revelation you need to go to church, read your scriptures, and pray. And it was hard for them to understand everything i said but in the end and with alot of help from the spirit they got it. It was really cool to teach in French. Well some trials so far is that we make appointments and the people either just forget or just made an appointment to be nice and we get stood up it has happen twice and one they just forgot and we made another one but the other was just they were not interested. So that was hard this week and also contacting is hard because they don't really understand me and people don't like to be stoped but you have equal good and bad experiences contacting people.

It might sound funny but my favorite thing to do so far in missionary work is porting (knocking doors) it is really nice to just go from door to door and talk to people and one lady invited us in and we found out she was in recovery from breaking her leg and she had met with missionaries about 20 or so years ago and they had knocked on her door last time she was in recovery from breaking her leg and could not go out, so it was funny to see how the lord works, even though she did not want to much because she already has a church she loves hearing our message is what she says so we shared a spiritual thought and left with a pray so hopfully some day she will find the truth. Well more about my companion. Seth Gardner He has red hair and is about the same height as me. We have alot of fun together and he knows so much about everything well it might be because i am new but thats how i feel. Also he is a computer expert he has been fixing computers sense he was about 11 and said that we might get calls from the office because they always ask for his help, so if that happens i will get to see more of paris. Well he is one of eight kids and he is number 5. Well Elder Woods is doing great we are doing exchanges with him this week so after that i can tell you more how things are going for him. But it is funny because at district meeting he was saying how we have never talked outside of ultimate Frisbee at campout hahah. Tell everyone to have so much fun in spring break. I was just telling Elder Gardner about going to the river house over spring break and i am a little bit jealous, but then again i will Mom is right i will have years to spend with the fam. Also i am in France and after this we are going to go get some pastries and go to the Old Cathedral in Tour so i am good hahah But really i hope that you all have a blast. Oh and tell bryce that he is spoiled to be Cory's friend. Oh a side note tell everyone that if they send me a letter to write

Elder Davis

Les Missionnaires

Then the address

It will get to me easier that way so tell Kira and Nicole that and that i want to hear from everyone Bryce and Paul should email me. So i am so excited for Josh and Jon they are going to love their missions and that just fits it is so funny. Oh so exciting. So how do you like the roof of my apartment. We have been rearranging the whole thing because there is just so much random stuff over time but it is starting to look a lot better. I like it a lot. Our territory is huge. I don't really know how to explain it but i will get city names so next time you can look up how far it is, but is big enough that one person we teach we take a thirty min train ride then an hour walk to their house and we are not even half way into our area that way. That is sad to hear about Roy, i will pray for him and it is so true how blessed we are to know this plan of happiness. I mean i was studying the other day and started to think that it is the plan of happiness and that we are all here to be happy. So we need to pick up our heads and stop just looking at the ground or three feet in front of us and look at all life has to offer the whole picture the full plan that lays ahead and then we can see that maybe two feet in front of us looks bad but when we look up we see that the happiness and joy is so much greater and after we see that we can help others see it to. I have been studying Christ life and it is amazing how much love and joy he had and it was because he saw the whole picture. Thanks for scriptures to read Dad i will do that tomorrow morning during study. Oh a quick typical day for me is that i get up at 6:30 get ready eat and work out. At 8:00 i do personal study (one thing i do is read the french book of Mormon and write down everything i don't know wow that make reading so slow but it really helps). Then at 9 comp study and 10 french study. After that we leave the apartment and do missionary work until 1 for lunch and then 8 for dinner. And then at night we listen to a talk usally until be at 10:30. Well I love you and hope all is great. Tu me manques et je t'aime.

Elder Davis

Frist Week in france week10

Family,

It really was so nice to talk to all of you. Ok well i don't know where to start. I love it first off. Well i just missed Elder Williams, i think i passed him on the streets in Paris but i am not sure but he left for home my second day. Elder Wood is my District leader so i have seen him. Ok now let me start from the beginning. The first day i got here they took us contacting and the Elder that i went with took me to Notre Dome, which is right down the street from the LDS church in Paris. It was so cool but i left my camera that day so i don't have pictures of it haha. Well then we left Paris and went to the mission home which is in a really nice town just out side of Paris. We had dinner met the mission President he is so cool i really like him, he is done in July so i hope the next one is just as great. We had a really good dinner then a testimony meeting in French i think just so he could see how good our french is. then we went off to bed. The next morning they took us to a Castle where Luis the 14th was born and we did not go inside but we walked the gardens and had some time to sit and think. It was cool because where i sat i had a perfect overview of Paris, it was a little foggy but still really cool. We then went back to the mission home and found out where we were going and who out trainers are............. I am in TOURS and my trainers name is Elder Gardner. He is really cool and as far as i have seen so far he is a perfect missionary. He is from Taylorsville Utah and has been out almost a year he is training really young he says. Ok so the city i am in is so cool i was told it was voted the most beautiful city it France this last year haha. It is a big city and really busy. There is a lot of people and there are two colleges near by and two high schools so it has alot of people. I don't really know how to explain the town except for very similar to how you would imagine a busy city in France. Oh another cool thing is that i am in the valley where all the castles are in France i think there are about 50 castles in the valley so that is really exciting, we don't have a car so we are trying to find a way to take the train and bus to go see a bunch and i am really excited about that. There are even two in the city of tour but we have not gone to see them yet. Also one day while walking to see an amis we passed one but Elder Gardner said it is always closed and it is blocked by a bunch of trees so hopefully we go back to that town and it is open one day. Ok back to where i left off so after i met Elder Gardner he took me to Paris and we did a quick tour of Paris before we had to catch the train to Tours. We saw the Eiffel Tower and a bunch of other places but did not really get to go in anywhere because we had to catch the train and did not even see half of what is in Paris so hopefully i will go back some time to do all that. Ok so when we got to Tours i was so excited because we got off the train and walked through a little street of shops and it was so awesome. The apartment is a pretty typical apartment and it is big because it used to be for 4 Elders but now it is just us two. Well a little bit about our Amis (investigators) we have one with a baptismal date and we are teaching others i have not met them all yet so i don't know exactly and yesterday we were making calls and a lady who was given a Book of Mormon wanted to meet with us. It was funny because she was like i have not finished the book yet and we were just like you have been reading it that is great so hopefully that goes well. Ok so the French side of all this i am always so confused and don't understand anyone but i am learning fast. We have had a few meetings and i just sit there and smile we also went over to dinner at a family where the daughter was just baptised about 2 months ago and it was so French after we ate they pulled out bread and cheese and we ate bread with all different kinds of cheese and then had some kind of pastry. hahah Well at church i had to go and introduce myself and bare my testimony it was funny because i was talking and i don't think they understood everything i said but it was good i did it and got my point across. Also people keep asking me for directions and i just look at them or turn to my comp hahah. another thing is we take the bus everywhere i have never been on a bus so much. I also don't know half the stuff we buy at the store but it is good and i even have cooked a good meal even though i don't know what i put in it but it was good. Oh i am really having so much fun and i am learning a lot i don't know what else to say, but I LOVE YOU!! oh and i am typing on a french key board that i changed to english it is confusing haha. Je t'aime!! Elder Davis

PS here is my address for Tours i will be here for at least 6 weeks that is one transfer maybe longer haha

Mission Presidents Letter

Dear Brother and Sister Davis,

Sister Staheli and I were delighted to welcome your son, Elder Jerry Dee Davis, into the France Paris Mission on Tuesday, March 15, 2011. He and his MTC companions were enthusiastic and all arrived in good health. He spent his first day eating some home cooked food, napping, visiting with me, contacting non-members in the heart of Paris, and sharing testimonies in our home. We enjoyed his spirit.

The next morning, after a mission orientation, Elder Davis left for his first assignment to work in the Tours Area with Elder Seth Gardner, who will be his trainer. Their apartment address is:

Elder Davis

Les Missionnaires

5 imp. 10 rue de Metz

37000, Tours

France

We feel very privileged to work with your son. We also realize the responsibility we share with you to help him continue to grow spiritually as he faithfully performs his duties. May the Lord inspire us all to sustain him in this challenging and exciting assignment. We hope you will join Sister Staheli and me in praying each day for your son, his companion, investigators, and all of us serving in the France Paris Mission.

A positive, supportive letter from home every week does wonders to sustain a missionary’s morale. Proverbs 25:25 states: As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. If you have any questions, or if we can assist you in any way, please contact us at our office (001-331-3480-0483) or home (001-331-3976-8402).

Sincerely,

Family,

It is crazy that i have three days left. i started to pack today and it just does not feel real. but i am ready and so excited to get to france and start the work. This week was a strange week because we all are getting ready to go so i spent alot of the week helping out the new missionaries and teaching the new zone leaders everything they need to know. Also it has be so awesome because our teachers are sharing all their amazing mission stories and giving their las lessons and advice. I really am so excited to get started out in the field. I got the letter from the high priest yesterday, that was really nice of them let them know that i say thanks and that it was really great. Bryce and Paul good job on the sports that is awesome that bay is doing so great in swim and bryce is owning in pole vault. ( i heard you have about 40 vaulters that is awesome). well so i get to call you all on monday while i am at the airport. i am going to get a phone card today so i can call i don't know how that all works but i will figure it out. So i leave to the airport around 2:30 to 3:00pm so i will be at the airport around 4:00 and the flight leaves at 6:00pm. So i will have some time between 4:00 and 6:00 Utah time. I will call dad's cell and hopfully i can talk for about 30 min. Oh i never got a letter from paul so idk if he wrote me. I don't have my mission adress on me but i will send it as soon as i can. well i don't have too much to say because i get to talk to you on monday and next time i write you i will tell you all about my first week in France. Well i love you all so much and can't wait to talk to you. Je t'aime!!

Week 8

Hey,

So this week was really erxciting cause i got my travel plans so that means it is for real i leave at 6:00 PM from Salt lake on the 14th. We are all really excited. We have 10 days. it is a little sad because two elders in my district got delayed another week so they leave the 21th so we are all really sad for them but at least it is only a week. i can't wait to get to france. this week has been really focused on studing all i can before i leave and i started to stress a little over all the french i did not know, but then i got to see Shane and it was all good from there. It is a joke here that you feel like you were born in the MTC and you will die here because time feels so weird and you all just want to get to the field, but it has been good. Ok so i loved seeing Shane (ps tell him i never got his e-mail so i don't know his address or e-mail thanks). We were able to talk and it was so nice to see him before i leave to france. It was crazy because some russian speaker walked by and shane started talking to him it was crazy i can't wait til i can just speak french without having to think really hard. Well it was nice to hear about everyone and the ward back home. I can't believe Dane is home. thats crazy. I loved hearing about the pole vaulting that sounded like a fun trip tell everyone good luck from me. I heard from Kim and she is loving pole vaulting at Mt Sac. Oh ya i saw Kegan his first day and was able to talk to him. It was nice to hear about t-mec and just talk to a familiar face. He seems really excited to be here and to start his mission. Tell Bay good job and good luck in swim also that is awesome he got 1st in all the races. This week my district started to do this things called Work Shops and they have been really good they are just times you plan with teachers and they teach different things out of PMG they are to get you ready for things out in the field and i have learned alot and just can't wait to go out and use what i have learned. Me and Elder Tree are going to start training the new zone leaders this next week and have started planing a zone conference. It has been really fun in class because we have started practicing doing things like shopping, makeing a phone call, and giving directions in french. So we have all been doing alot of role playing and we try to use different vocab everytime so we act out the crazest situations and i end up just laughing the whole time. This last one we were shopping and wanted to by pants but we for got out credic cards so we called up someone to bring us our card but on his way he ran over an elder so we had to get directions to come help and then for some reason the car blew up but everyone was ok so we needed to go bye some stuff to clean up the mess and you get the point everyone just says what ever comes to their mind and it gets to be really random, but it is getting us all to practice the language so thats good. Most of this week i have been studing the idea of desire, faith, hope and charity. It is crazy how everything ties together and that if we want to sucessed everything needs to revolve around charity and love, because that is how christ taught and all he did was out of love. I have been focusing on finding what i truly desire and how my faith and hope play a huge role in what i can acomplish. It is has been really good thing about what i am here to do and how much the gospel just makes sense. We are blessed. Well Je t'aime and i hope you got my letter and pictures. let me know if you did. Write back and let me know how everyone is doing. I miss you and can't wait to tell you how France is. woot woot.

Love,

Elder Davis
